Ready for the inspector, every day.

Safer Food, Better Business, EHO inspections and allergen rules, explained plainly, and how Taybl helps you keep the records they ask for.

Three things every UK kitchen is judged on.

What each one is, and where Taybl fits.

SFBB

Safer Food, Better Business is the Food Standards Agency’s pack for small caterers. You follow safe methods, keep a daily and weekly diary, and review your system every four weeks.

With Taybl: the full pack is digitised, with checks, a self-updating diary, safe methods and the four-weekly review.

EHO inspections

Environmental Health Officers inspect your premises and your records, and give you a Food Hygiene Rating. They want proof that your system is followed, not only written down.

With Taybl: time-stamped, searchable records you can show in seconds, exported to CSV, Excel or PDF.

Natasha’s Law and allergens

Food prepacked for direct sale needs a full ingredients label with allergens emphasised. Everything else you serve needs the 14 regulated allergens to be known and shared.

With Taybl: recipe cards list ingredients and the 14 allergens for every dish, and the live allergen matrix is shared with front of house.

Fill in your SFBB pack without the pen and paper.

We guide you through setting up the safe methods in the pack, and keep every answer in Taybl, so there is nothing to rewrite when something changes.

Guided setup

Work through the pack’s safe methods with a guided, online fill-in. Your answers are saved as you go, and the finished pack is produced as a PDF.

Signed off and searchable

Sign off the finished pack, with a record of each review. Your team can then search your signed-off safe methods from the staff app.

A printed copy for the inspector

Order a printed copy in a heavy-duty folder. It includes instructions for an EHO on where in Taybl each record can be exported from.

What Taybl does, and what it does not. Taybl helps you keep and show the records. Compliance still depends on your team following your procedures, and your local authority has the final say. This page is a plain-English summary, not legal advice: check the Food Standards Agency for the current rules that apply to you.

Common questions.

Is SFBB a legal requirement?

The law requires food businesses to have a food safety management system based on HACCP principles. Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB) is the Food Standards Agency’s free pack for small caterers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and many local authorities expect to see it, or something equivalent, in use.

Is Taybl SFBB compliant?

Taybl digitises the full SFBB pack, including the diary, checks, safe methods and the four-week review, so your records follow the official daily and weekly structure.

What is the difference between Natasha’s Law and the 14 allergen rule?

Natasha’s Law covers food that is prepacked for direct sale, such as a sandwich made and wrapped on your premises, which needs a full ingredients label with allergens emphasised. For everything else you serve, you must still be able to tell a guest which of the 14 regulated allergens a dish contains.

Will Taybl get me a 5 food hygiene rating?

No software can promise a rating. Taybl makes it easy to keep complete, time-stamped records and to show them to an inspector in seconds, and that is what inspectors look for. The rating still reflects how your venue runs.

Can I order a printed copy of my SFBB pack?

Yes. Taybl guides you through setting up the pack online, and you can order a printed copy in a heavy-duty folder. It includes instructions for an Environmental Health Officer on where in Taybl each record can be exported from.

Has Taybl been reviewed by Environmental Health Officers?

Yes, by practising Environmental Health Officers, one of whom said any venue fully using Taybl would be well on their way to 4 or 5 stars.

Can I show an inspector records on my phone?

Yes. Records are time-stamped and searchable by date on any device, and the whole history can be exported to CSV, Excel or PDF.

Keep every record, and show it in two taps.
